Laguna Canyon DevelpmentCitizens Launch Initiative to Save LB Open Space

A group of Laguna Beach volunteers is championing preservation of the City’s remaining open space. They propose raising more than $20 million for this purpose with a voter-approved, 20-year flat parcel tax that will cost each parcel $120 a year, or $10 a month.Read more »


Donation parcel overlooks Aliso Caynon with Pacific Ocean in background4,450 New Homes in Laguna Canyon & Road Widening

The Irvine Company and the City of Irvine are moving forward with plans to construct 4,450 dwelling units on the outer edge of Laguna Canyon. Laguna Canyon Road is currently being widened to 6 lanes (from future Lake Forest Drive to the 405 Freeway) to accommodate the new traffic from this development and the overburdened Irvine Spectrum office and industrial area. Grading operations and work on Laguna Canyon road is on-going. Read more »

Recent Land Donation Increases Laguna Greenbelt's size by over 100 acres

The gift was a piece of land overlooking Aliso Canyon with dramatic views of the southern end of Laguna Greenbelt. The southern maritime chaparral covered parcel sits adjacent to the Aliso-Woods Canyon Wilderness Park and has spectacular views out towards the Pacific Ocean and beyond. The 100-acre parcel was donated to the city of Laguna Beach by Laguna Vista LLC in November 2009. The hilltop land contains valuable habitat and is home to many endangered plants and animal species.

Four major parks make up the Laguna Greenbelt: Crystal Cove State Park, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Aliso-Wood Canyons Wilderness Park and the Jim Dilley Preserve.
