The SUPER project is a proposal by the County of Orange to stabilize the existing natural creek location by channelizing the portions of existing edges with concrete and by building a series of dam like structures.


irvine Wildlife CorridorIrvine Regional Wildlife Corridor

Laguna Greenbelt, Inc. recently embarked on an initiative to complete and implement the Irvine Regional Wildlife Corridor. The wildlife corridor when completed will link the Cleveland National Forest and the Laguna Greenbelt/South Coast Wilderness area together.

Construction of a new 4,550 unit residential development, called Laguna Crossing and Hidden Canyon will likely begin in Summer 2010. The new housing development planned by the Irvine Company and approved by the City of Irvine will occupy existing open space land adjacent to the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

The potential redevelopment of the existing Aliso Creek Course is another challenge to Aliso Creek. A newly reconfigured golf course surrounded by a resort hotel and condominiums are all planned at the southern edge of the Laguna Greenbelt.

The 22, 000-acre Laguna Greenbelt is the second largest coastal wilderness & open space area in Southern California. Only the Santa Monica Mountains National Refuge is larger.
