Dear Greenbelt Member,

Now more than ever, we need your support.

Look around you.  Laguna is surrounded by nearly 20,000 acres of wilderness parks  and open space.  Laguna Greenbelt, Inc., has led the successful effort to preserve this  land since 1968.

Although the land is preserved, it still faces serious challenges.  From TUNNELS to TOLLROADS, and BEYOND, a major assault is underway on our precious state and county parks.  The proposed Foothill Tollroad extension through San Onofre State Park  is not an isolated incident.  Dozens of development projects statewide are targeting  state parkland!  If the tollroad is allowed to destroy this state park, none of our  parklands will be safe.  We need your help to fight this threat.

Similar projects and chronic underfunding are eroding our beautiful county parks.  Orange County residents love their outdoor recreation areas, and we must take that  message forcefully to the new county supervisors.

We are asking you now to reaffirm your commitment to the goals of

Laguna Greenbelt, Inc., and help us to

¥ Stop the proposed Foothill Toll Road through San Onofre  State Park

¥ Defend the wilderness that we saved together

¥ Preserve Laguna's undeveloped hillsides  (the "Inner Greenbelt")

Dues for the calendar year are only $35.  Please reply so we can continue to be the most successful volunteer open space organization in the country.

Please fill out and mail back the Information Card with your membership renewal, so  we can keep you posted on activities and projects.

Yours truly,

Elisabeth Brown
